BIOGRAPHY

Eugene Marshall is an Australian composer from Perth, Western Australia. Born in Malaysia in 1988, he moved to Australia at the age of two. At seven, his parents encouraged him to learn the piano, and at twelve, he was accepted into Trinity College (Perth) with a music scholarship. In his final year of high school, Eugene began formal studies in composition.

In 2006, Eugene was enrolled at the School of Music at the University of Western Australia, studying under Roger Smalley, James Ledger and Chris Tonkin. In 2008, Eugene was awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Society of Western Australia. Eugene graduated from UWA with honours in June 2011.

In September 2012, Eugene began his Master of Music (Composition) degree at the Royal College of Music studying under Alison Kay and Simon Holt. He graduated in 2014 and served as President for the Royal College of Music Student's Union for two years, moving back to Perth in July 2016.

Eugene's compositions are decidedly tonal and accessible to non-classical audiences. At the same time, they are unique and bursting with personality. His music has been performed in various venues in Australia and the UK. His recordings are distributed by Ditto Music.
